These photos are absolutely breathtaking. Domesticated opens @ Kopeikin Gallery in Los Angeles Saturday, the 16th. If you are going to be in the area I would highly suggest checking it out. It almost makes me wish I lived in LA…almost.

we’re digging it: This quote from Dennis Oppenheim

Published by admin under we're digging it

A friend of mine posted this on my myspace page once and told me it reminded her of my art. I still like it every bit as much today as 3 years ago. Thanks Jess.

Make things that carry with them the residue of where they have been

we’re digging it:sarah sze makes me want to make my art better

Published by admin under we're digging it

This work is really amazing. Sze makes these strange objects out of familiar and not so familiar debris. They seem awkwardly familiar. They are just vague enough to be interesting and whimsical enough to be fun. For me they beg exploring if you follow the link to her site check out the exhibition called “Powers of Ten” it’s like some kind of surreal archaeological dig. Her sculptures remind me of my childhood and making “set-ups” with my action figures in the basement. Some of the most inspiring work I’ve come across recently, Sarah Sze makes me want to make my art better.

we’re digging it: Vernon Fisher

Heart of Darkness
Vernon Fisher
Sep 7 - Oct 7, 2007

Opening Reception
For the Artist
Friday, Sep 7
6:00 - 8:00 pmDUNN AND BROWN CONTEMPORARY 5020 Tracy Street Dallas TX 75205

Vernon Fisher has another show up at the Dunn and Brown Contemporary, and always it’s really good. I Studied under this guy at UNT and to this day it still blows me away how fresh and relevant his work is. The way he takes these disparate elements and marries them together using composition and juxtaposition still really speaks to me. Of course I may be biased seeing as though I build images in a very similar way but this guy is really at the top of his game and never ceases to amaze me if you’re in Dallas it’s worth a look-see.
