update: sorry for the delay

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Well I’m 27 now…woot… I’ve had a lot going on this past few weeks. My birthday stretched from March 20th through (well it seems to still be going strong). Last Saturday we traveled to OKC to ref a bout between our lovely Death Row Rumblers and the Tornado Alley Roller Girls, the outcome of which was 123 - 75 nicely done Rumblers. I’m still putting together work for a show next fall so be on the lookout for updates on that. I’ll post something with more substance and maybe some pictures at a later date.  Also don’t miss the Dallas Derby Devils season opener at Nytex Sports Center on April 12th.

something significant will follow: random pre-birthday rant… (sorry it’s not more philisophical)

Published by admin under Uncategorized

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted… Thank you to those (whoever you are) that check back regularly… I’ve been crazy busy both professionally and socially. The roller derby season starts soon and I’ve been at practice every chance I get. I ref my first bout in OKC on March 22nd only 2 days before my 27th birthday (insert shameless plug here). I’ve been drawing a lot and working on a new body of work for a show that I will be curating so that’s always exhausting (keeping not only yourself motivated to do work but two other people while trying to plan an event for a month that has yet to be named is one of life’s little pleasures) but I’ll keep you posted. I think that is my new catch phrase. For those of you who know me “rock on” had a good run but I think “I’ll keep you posted” and it’s close cousin “keep me posted” has become something I notice myself saying a lot more these days. I suppose that’s just how getting older is you go from “let’s drink our faces off!” to “you know it’s getting late and I have work early in the morning”. From “call me this weekend” to “let me see what my weekend looks like”. I keep a date book now, what the hell is that? I’ve never been one of those organized individuals, blessed with the fortitude and sheer…well willpower to set and keep dates and appointments and such. And yet now I catch myself excusing myself because I have “places to be” (you can do the “bunny ears” here if you’re playing the home game). Or doing the dreaded “no Tuesday is no good for me, how about Thursday, I’m open Thursday”. I guess it just really blows me away to look back and realize “wow, I’m an adult now”…so there’s my obligatory “post-25 I’m another year older” rant. I’m sure they get worse every year from here on out. It’s like my Mom told me once “Justin, I wish I could tell you it gets easier”.
