Brandon Willett will be moving to San Antonio to start culinary school and  a new life with his soon to be wife Jewell. I wish him good luck and success in chasing his dream.

end of an era: Robert Rauschenberg dead at 82

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Robert Rauschenberg died Monday of heart failure.  His death marks the end of a career that both defined and redefined the world of Art as well as the artist himself…  You will be missed.

have whistle will travel: dames, dolls, and rollergirls

Published by admin under have whistle will travel

Last weekend I traveled up to see my derby brothers and sisters in Fayetteville, Arkansas to ref a bout for the NWA Rollergirls. I didn’t get any pictures at the bout because reffing is hard work and you seldom get down time for photos. After the bout I got the pleasure of hanging out with the Backwoods Betties, the Arkansas Killbillies, The Pikes Peak Derby Dames All-Stars, and the Oklahoma Victory Dolls. I spent waaaay too much money on gas but the good times far outweighed the cost of travel.

My ninja co-pilot kicked ass the whole way

now entering Oklahoma…Oklahoma is a pretty state and I had never driven this far north on US-75

Hand-painted signs are a lost art here in America…

When you travel thoughout the United States the things you never knew were there come into clear focus

I blew past this cop but I guess a yello sports car commands more attention than a green pick-up truck

Once you pass into Arkansas you can really tell you are in a different state everything is green and mountainous

Psychoboy from Oklahoma reffed with us…he refs for something crazy like 4-5 different leagues in OKC

Tyra Spanks disagreed with one of my calls and sent me a very clear message…

Mount Crushmore, and Sally Strych 9 of the Victory Dolls and Bloody Bathory of the Backwoods Betties

Strangeways head ref for pikes peak…this guy is a solid official

random guy can dance

Ecko Girl…Pikes Peak Victory Doll?

I think everyone in the world knows all the words to “Don’t Stop Believin” and when you add alcohol everyone can sing it

The Swiss Missle took the guitar solo

The Swiss Missle and Rebelline from OKVD and Honest Abe ref from NWA

Camilla Bloodspilla from Pikes Peak has two rad tear tattoos

My head Ref for the evening Pet…I admire this guys dedication to his craft working with him made me a better ref

After the bar we went to Apache Rose Peacock’s house here she is with Bloody Bathory and Lita Floored is there in the background throwing rock fingers

bathory was trying to tell me about her three favorite roller girls and then decided to go hunt them all down Apache Rose, Mellow Yellow and Saba Taj…Saba let me crash her place for the evening and even had a nice guest room with an actual bed…no couch for this zebra

Rockin Robin and Mr. Robin these two are so cute…and Dad Gum It NWA ref extrordinaire

and me without my whistle I’m pretty sure there’s an illegal block in there somewhere

if you were thinking of rocking down to it it’s just outside of the texas border on US-75

you can always find time to look at puppies on a road trip

fried mixed vegetables with cornbread…genius

and made it home in time to play some dominoes

I had a blast and thank you so much to all of NWA Rollergirls for making my short visit to Arkansas so much fun…Thanks to the Pikes Peak Derby Dames for coming out and making the after party awesome…And Thanks to the Oklahoma Victory Dolls for being the Victory Dolls I can’t say enough about how great those girls are…
